Going to the dentist is often a very uncomfortable experience for me. Is there anything you can do to help?

Many people experience anxiety over visiting the dentist even for routine cleanings and fillings. This is why Dr. Terry Bass has made it a priority to stay up-to-date on the latest methods of sedation dentistry. We offer several different type of sedation including oral sedation, nitrous sedation and IV sedation. Depending on your needs we can discuss which method is most suitable for you.

What Can I Do to Prevent Gum Disease?

The best way to maintain a healthy smile is to brush your teeth and floss daily. Additionally, visiting your dentist every six months for a routine checkup and cleaning is highly recommended. While getting your teeth cleaned our dental hygienists will remove any plaque or tartar buildup that has accumulated and may also suggest different brushing techniques to help in the prevention of buildup that can cause gum disease.

What Causes Sensitive Teeth?

Sensitive teeth can be caused by a number of different factors including chipped or fractured teeth, teeth that have been ground down by clenching or grinding, and a receding gum-line caused by gum disease. Dentin is the part of the tooth that registers pain and most sensitivity is a result of this porous part of the tooth becoming exposed. If you have sensitive teeth you should schedule a consultation with Dr. Terry Bass to see what he can do to help.

What are Dental Implants?

Unlike dentures or crowns and bridges, dental implants are replacement teeth that actually fuse to your jaw instead of the teeth around them. This gives the tooth more permanence and a solid foundation in the jaw. However, these procedures often take much longer than a simple cosmetic procedure such as crowns and bridges. Dental implants can also be used to support dentures.
