If you need a tooth replacement solution, but dental implants or dental bridges do not really suit your needs, you may be a good candidate for dentures or partials.
Complete Dentures and Partial Dentures
Dr. Bass recommends complete dentures when most or all teeth are missing. Complete dentures consist of full sets of upper and lower false teeth. Dr. Bass will recommend partial dentures when there are remaining teeth that need to be preserved. Patients who have a few remaining teeth may choose to have them extracted to take advantage of the benefits of complete dentures.
Procedure
- Dr. Bass will take an impression of the jaw to evaluate the space available for dentures. Dr. Bass will also help you decide on the best tooth shade.
- Our dental laboratory will use the bite measurements and tooth shade to make a mold of your jaw.
- A wax model will be created so you can try out the fit before the denture is finalized.
- Your denture is completed by replacing the wax with plastic that is hardened. Then, the denture is polished and you are given instructions on placement, removal, care, and cleaning.
Dentures and partials are custom-made to be durable, strong, and stain-resistant. And because we use the best dental materials to create your dentures and partials, they are also very natural-looking.
It is normal to feel self-conscious about your dentures. Your new dentures or partials may take a few weeks to get used to, but eventually you will not notice the difference. However, you should contact Dr. Bass if you feel that they are not fitting correctly or you are having trouble speaking or chewing. Over time, your mouth may change, but all you need to do is visit us for an adjustment when needed to keep your dentures fitting snugly. Brush and clean your dentures regularly, and make sure you pay attention to the gums, too, in order to keep them looking great for many years.
