ClearCorrect™ vs. Braces

Edmond, Lawton, Norman, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Both ClearCorrect™ and braces are used to address various levels of malocclusion. Both of these options can correct bite issues that impact appearance and function. Both are very effective at producing lasting results. However, the way these orthodontic solutions work are quite different.
ClearCorrect™ utilizes a series of progressive aligner trays. Customized to match individual treatment plans, each progressive aligner gently pushes teeth closer to their optimal position. This process typically takes 12 to 24 months. By contrast, braces use brackets strung with arch wire to pull teeth into their correct position. Straightening with braces can take up to 36 months.

Fixed or Removable

Braces are affixed to the teeth. This placement necessitates dietary restrictions, including limitations on certain fruits and vegetables. Cleaning braces requires special dental tools as well - without which numerous oral health issues may occur.
ClearCorrect™ aligners are removed for eating and tooth cleaning. This allows patients to enjoy a healthy and balanced diet, and to maintain optimal oral health through brushing and flossing. Removable aligners also help prevent tooth staining, a common side-effect of braces.

Aesthetic Concerns

Braces, even clear varieties, can be highly noticeable. This can be particularly embarrassing for adults in professional situations, though may also cause discomfort for older teens. ClearCorrect™ aligners are made of a clear and soft plastic, allowing them to be discretely worn under all circumstances.
Not only less obtrusive, ClearCorrect™ aligners are more forgiving. Made of a soft plastic, these aligners do not cut or irritate soft oral tissue and are even safe to wear during athletic activities. Dr. Bass can discuss these and additional benefits with you in greater detail during your orthodontic consultation.
